2008 DEMOCRATIC PARTY'S PLATFORM

After scanning the 2008 Democratic Party's Platform Agenda, you will find a number of topics that are being proposed on behalf of all Democratic candidates running for public office at the local, state, and national levels. Here is a brief on the various topics discussed:

RENEWING AMERICA'S PROMISE (as approved by the 2008 Democratic National Convention on Monday, August 25, 2008, Denver, Colorado)

PREAMBLE: "...We believe that every American, whatever their background or station in life, should have the chance to get a good education, to work at a good job with good wages, to raise and provide for a family, to live in safe surroundings, and to retire with dignity and security. We believe that quality and affordable health care is a basic right. We believe that each succeeding generation should have the opportunity, through hard work, service and sacrifice, to enjoy a brighter future than the last...."

Four topics of general interest are then covered in detail:

I. Renewing the American Dream, which includes jump-starting the economy and providing middle class Americans immediate relief, empowering families for a new era, investing in American competitiveness, and economic stewardship.

II. Renewing American leadership, which includes ending the war in Iraq; defeating Al Qaeda and combating terrorism; preventing the spread and use of weapons of mass destruction; revitalizing and supporting our military; keeping faith with veterans, working for our common security; advancing democracy, development, and respect for human rights; protecting our security and saving our planet, and seizing the opportunity.

III. Renewing the American community, which includes 16 topics that focus on service, immigration, Americans with disabilities, children and families, choice, criminal justice just to mention a few.

IV. Renewing American democracy, which includes 8 topics that focus on voting rights; open, accountable and ethical government, partnerships with States to mention just a few topics.

This 57-page document requires reading once for the head and once for the heart to give voters the overall look for all the philosophies that have been included as appropriate to the Democratic Party's Agenda for the future. You may want to request a listing of the Platform Party Committee and the contributing writers of this document from the Democratic Party Headquarters since the writers have been omitted in the document. REMEMBER TO VOTE YOUR CONSCIENCE ON NOVEMBER 4, 2008. THIS IS YOUR COUNTRY...KEEP IT THAT WAY!
